Nizam Abdullah

BIO

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1981, Nizam Abdullah is a prominent Malaysian sculptor and contemporary visual artist known for his bold public works, monumental commissions, and socially conscious artistic language. He holds a Diploma in Visual Digital Arts from Limkokwing University College of Creative Technology.
Nizam’s practice explores identity, peace, resilience, and humanity through sculpture and painting. His work is often playful in form yet powerful in message, transforming familiar symbols into statements on society, conflict, and hope. Among his best-known works are Pink Tank, which reflects his anti-war message of peace and harmony, and The Fighting Rooster, a sculpture connected to self-identity, strength, and personal exploration.
His career has included major public, government, corporate, and private commissions throughout Malaysia, including large-scale sculptures created for prominent spaces and institutions. His work has also been exhibited in public venues, private galleries, and international platforms.
Nizam received international recognition early in his career when he was selected among the Top 20 artists at the IOTA Japan International Sculpture Competition during his first international exhibition.
In 2013, Nizam made his United States debut through The Connector Group with Art Kuala Lumpur, an independent exhibition presented during Miami Art Week. Listed among the week’s prominent art destinations alongside internationally recognized fairs and satellite exhibitions, the presentation introduced his work to American collectors and marked an important milestone in his international career.
Today, Nizam is recognized as one of Malaysia’s established contemporary sculptors, with a practice that continues to expand across monumental sculpture, public art, private commissions, and contemporary painting.
